Investigation and Remediation of Goldsbrough Apartments
Izzat was initially engaged by the Owners Corporation in 2002 to investigate building defects. The building is a woolstore with Heritage significance, constructed in 1936, which has been converted into mixed commercial and residential used in 1995.
Following this initial investigation in 2002, Izzat was engaged for expert services to investigate and assess the extent of building defects, and assess the owners exposure for future repairs as part of a legal claim.
Over the past 10+ years, Izzat has assisted with the design, management and implementation of repairs to such elements as the indoor pool, penthouse terrace waterproofing and tiling, atrium roof steelwork, parapet masonry walls, steel framed balconies, and upgrades for fire compliance.
The greatest challenge during the ongoing remedial investigations and repairs, is that the works are to be undertaken whilst approximately 1,200 people live and work. The building currently has a mixed use as a hotel, commercial and residential building (with both tenants and owner occupiers).
