Izzat carried out the structural and stormwater design for major alterations and additions to an existing residence overlooking Bar Beach.

Due to the site’s location on the coast, the project presented particular environmental challenges due to its exposed location with the high wind loads and the highly corrosive environment being critical design issues.

Significant underpinning works were carried out to create a basement garage underneath the existing house. The excavation for the new basement required extensive shoring and temporary works to enable the construction to be completed. In consultation with the builder, Izzat developed construction methodologies and staging of works to ensure the works were undertaken safely.

In addition to the basement excavation, major structural changes and upgrades were made to the existing house with the first and seconds floors being re-supported over the new basement.

The project was successfully completed in 2015.
